Dr Dayal says, “The start of the menstrual cycle every month is a time of progesterone dominance, which causes PMS, fatigue, mood swings, bloating and restlessness. It can disturb your sleeping pattern.”
“Better sleep during periods can help reduce cramps, improve your mood, reduce fatigue and discomfort, and make your menstrual cycle more comfortable.”
This means ladies, sleeping more is the way to deal with almost all menstrual problems. In fact, some women want to sleep more than usual during their periods. Even though we know that a good night’s sleep is important for our health, there are some women who do not experience a good night’s sleep during this period.
Poor sleep can lead to excessive sleepiness and fatigue. So, what can you do to improve sleep and better deal with your period problems?
Here are some tips that can help you:
Staying active throughout the month and exercising regularly is a good option. Dr Dayal says that doing light exercise and stretching during your periods increases the chances of better sleep.
Be sure to reduce your intake of caffeine and alcohol during this time and get plenty of sleep.
Dr Dayal suggests avoiding screen exposure a few hours before bedtime and keeping your bedroom dark, cool and quiet.
You can also try relaxation techniques such as meditation, hot baths, and sleeping in the infant or fetal position. According to Dr Dayal, these also help in improving your sleep during periods.

4. Bacterial Vaginosis:
It occurs when bacteria overgrow in the vagina. Certain activities are responsible for changing the pH balance of the vagina – these include intercourse, use of scented soaps and frequent douching.
5. Lichen sclerosus:
Dr Maheshwari says, “This condition is mostly seen in women who have reached the age of menopause, and sometimes in young girls who have just reached puberty. It usually causes white patches, itching and discomfort around the genital area and is characterized by skin tears.”
How can it be diagnosed?
This is a challenge because peeling vaginal skin can be a symptom of many problems. That’s why it is important to go to the doctor and find out. In most cases, the condition can be easily treated. If not, your doctor will ask you to have a blood test.
Most doctors prescribe an antifungal treatment, antibiotics, antivirals and oral corticosteroids.
Can you treat vaginal peeling at home?
1. Use an OTC antifungal cream for a yeast infection.
2. Go for an anti-itch cream.
3. Apply cold compresses to reduce itching.
4. Do not sit in wet clothes.
5. Wear airy clothes.
6. Avoid douching.
